Back In Balance is celebrating over twenty three years in business! Some of today’s practitioners either specialize in one area which leaves them disadvantaged if a client has needs beyond that scope of training. Others have a very scattered training never actually focusing on one area for very long. Recognizing this, Tash has a very deep and wide training and understanding of the body which allows her to integrate many modalities into her therapeutic approach. “My aim is balance. To use a carpenters analogy, I believe it is important to incorporate hammers and the finest sandpaper. I am practical in my bodywork strategy in that I use whatever approach is the right tool for the job given where we are in the building process.” Tash believes health and wellness is something we build over time and this is why she cultivates therapeutic relationships with her clients. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
With over twenty three years of hands-on learning and practice her training includes therapeutic massage, Structural Integration, CranioSacral®therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue, sports massage, Myoskeletal Alignment® , Applied Kinesiology, and Resonance work. Nitasha “Tash” Canine (owner of Back In Balance since 1998) is committed to the health and wellness of her clients. While many have called her an “expert” at what she does, she understands you are unique and there is always more to learn with each new client. This is what continues to make her career interesting. Thank you for your trust.

In addition to attending massage school and becoming a licensed massage therapist back in 1998, Tash completed programs in additional health and wellness genres. In 2005 she became certified in nutrition counseling, fitness training, and corrective exercise with The National Academy of Sports Medicine. She has trained with some of the leading experts in the fields of subtle energy work as well as deep therapeutic bodywork. While living in Annapolis, MD she worked in health clubs as the personal training director for two years designing health and wellness regimens for the club’s clientele while maintaining her private practice. Eventually she left the club scene and put her attention into her business full time. Tash trained in sports massage and barefoot shiatsu in 2011 and 2012. Rolfing and Advanced Myoskeletal Alignment CE’s were incorporated in 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2015. She continues to learn and grow as a healing arts professional and utilizes the methods she learns and practices in her journey to assist clients in living a better life.
Tash now lives with her wife and three fur babies in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. She moved her busy practice from Charlottesville in 2019 and works from her wonderful home studio (separate from the main house). A lifelong athlete, Tash is now 47 years old and still enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, snowboarding, surfing (when there’s a hurricane a brewing) and hiking with her dog. She understands the frustrations of pain and injury and has been receiving therapeutic massage and other modalities of bodywork for many years.
“My very personal relationship with The Divine allows me to focus and tune into a client’s “needs” in unique ways. I am grateful because I have grown over these years and excited because there is always more to learn.”
Tash is the published author of many health and fitness related articles. Her latest book titled: “My Call to Spiritual Freedom” is now available on Amazon http://www.amazon.com in paperback and audiobook format. All proceeds benefit “Guidance for a Better Life Retreat Center” http://www.guidanceforabetterlife.com which has been mentoring folks towards a more abundant life for over thirty years.
